Friday Face Off is the weekly makeup challenge at GLAMOUR HQ where beauty editors, beauty enthusiasts and some very special guests recreate a makeup look in only 5 minutes.

This week, our lovely Deputy Beauty Editor, Elle Turner, goes up against YouTuber Lucy Flight.

The look of the moment is supermodel Joan Smalls’ pink and black triple eyeliner look created by makeup artist Hung Vanngo. Suffice to say it’s more than just a bold, statement eye.

Is there such a thing as too much of a pop of colour? We shall find out.

Stage One

Starting with that infamous bright red eyeshadow, Elle applies it with a small eyeshadow brush, with a buildable coverage approach. Lucy uses a larger brush and sweeps across the eyeshadow with thicker red strokes.

Stage Two

Lucy starts first with the eyeliner, remaining close to the lash line with precision and in her own words, “nailing” the liner. Joining the eyeliner bandwagon, Elle also starts lining near the lash line, then creating the line over the lid before the final liner above the lid. Lucy adds the last two eyeliner strokes shortly after.

Stage Three

Elle goes in for the finishing touches, applying a little bit of blush to the cheeks as well as applying a lovely pink lip. Lucy also adds a pinky nude lip, minus the blush.
