GLAMOUR columnist, Bambi Does Beauty, shares her foolproof guide to getting glass skin

It's the K-Beauty trend everyone's talking about.

03 Dec 2018

Once upon a time when I used to film the odd YouTube video - where unlike Instagram, the community is a little more on the ‘honest’ side, I’d get comments such as “Why is her skin so greasy looking?” or “has this girl heard of powder?”. Now we can safely say that dewy/glossy skin is the hottest beauty trend of the moment, but have you heard of glass skin?

A look pioneered by the Koreans(duh?!), glass skin is a tricky image to master, but once you find the right products, it can be achieved overnight. Here are my top tips for getting the glass look...

The #bambidoesbeauty guide to wearing a lip colour with maximum impact: 1. No need for eye makeup 2. Keep skin bright and glowy 3. Blot excess product from lips to give more of a stained au naturel look. I’m wearing @maccosmeticsuk matte lipstick in shade whirl. I always seem to gravitate towards lip colours with a warmer tone, the browns as opposed to the pinks, I think they suit my colouring best. 🦌🏷🌾 #maccosmetics #glowyskin #dewyskin #soapbrows #nofilter #goldenhour

Night Treatment - Allies Of Skin, Bright Future Overnight Facial

This is the most crucial step. As we know, our skin regenerates in our sleep, so this is the time to use a product that will work hard while you don’t have to. I’ve been using Allies Of Skin Bright Future Overnight Facial for the past few months and I can safely say it’s the product that has had the most dramatic and noticeable affect on my skin by morning. It may be on the pricier side (£110), but it is totally worth it. A potent blend of AHA’s (to remove dead skin on the surface) and retinol (a powerful antioxidant that helps skin cell production), you will not be disappointed with the results; it leaves my skin gleaming.

Cleanse - This Works, Light Time Cleanse and Glow

I’m a sucker for a cleansing balm, and This Works Light Time Cleanse And Glow is the ultimate glow-getter for morning skin. Not too thick or buttery, this is the perfect texture for a quick cleanse that gives results. Emulsify the balm in water to activate Vitamin C, and massage onto skin for 1 minute. I truly adore this product - the scent, texture and brightening effect it leaves on the skin - it’s a hidden gem.

Exfoliate - La Prairie, 3 minute Peel

Now to bring out the big guns, La Prairie 3 Minute Peel. Your skin is prepped and cleansed, now for a peel. This weekly exfoliating treatment gives my skin more brightness than most professional facials I’ve had. A fast-acting formula is equally gentle as it is effective. Infused with AHA’s and BHA to remove dead skin and leave it positively ‘glass’ looking.

If there’s going to be a brand to get me interested in experimenting with #makeup again it had to be 💫 I created this look using just three products (and each of them blew me away, not just because it’s #Chanel either!). Luckily my skin is good enough at the moment to go base makeup free using just a touch of bronzer to give it some warmth. I’ve used the Soleil Tan De Chanel. It’s a gorgeous cream textured bronzer with a warm brown olive tone (no orange 🤭). Also the pot is huge so if you’re looking to invest in having those CC’s in your #makeupbag this would probably be my top pick. I first spotted it on @maddieziegler and was looking to get my hands on it ever since! My little trick is to go over the nose and under eyes for a little “I’ve been out in the sun all day” look. Then for the eyes, as you probably know I never really wear mascara, but even I loved it. I’m wearing the Le Volume Revolution De Chanel. It’s super black, applied silky and thick (I only apply to outer lashes and then feather out with an old mascara wand). I have only just applied it so I can’t vouch for it’s smudge proof capabilities but damn is it glossy and gorgeous. Finally I added a little bit of the Ombre Premiere Cream Eyeshadow in shade Memory. This shade was MADE for blue eyes. My eyes popped as soon as I applied it (I also like to smear a little under the eyes for a smokier effect). Is there any other #makeuplook you’d like me to experiment with? 💄 #chanel #chanelbeauty #chanelmakeup #cocochanel #soleiltandechanel #ombrepremiere #levolumedechanel #sundayskincare #skincaresunday #dewymakeup

Hydrate - Augustinus Bader, The Rich Cream

Typically at this stage of my skincare routine, I’d go in with a serum, but the next product deserves direct with skin. The Rich Cream from Augustinus Bader. A product that’s reached cult status in the beauty community. Augustinus used his knowledge in stem cell science to create a cream that stimulates skin’s natural renewal process, not only does it produce long term effects, but it instantly leaves the skin with a sheer, dewy radiance.

Makeup - Becca Cosmetics, Shimmering Skin Perfector in Shade Pearl

If all that wasn’t enough, and you can’t resist delving into your makeup drawer - then Becca Cosmetics is your go-to brand for ‘glass skin’. What I love most about Becca highlighters is they have NO glitter! They just leave a glossy, radiant finish to the skin that lives up to their ‘lit from within’ tagline. Try out the Shimmering Skin Perfector in shade pearl, the pearlescent shade will melt into your skin leaving it looking radiant as opposed to made up!

See you later this month for more beauty tips.
