Hurricane Harvey has left the Texas city of Houston devastated with a death toll currently reaching 30. Relief efforts have been huge as people all over the world have come together to help those affected - including much of Hollywood. Following Kevin Hart's Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge, which encourages celebrities to get on board, donations have skyrocketed. Here are the biggest contributions so far...
Miley is the latest celebrity to donate to the cause. The songstress made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and teared up when speaking about the events in Texas: "My grandma’s sitting here [and] my mom’s here, and I go home to my seven dogs — If I didn’t have that anymore, it’d just be really hard." She continued: "I’m really happy to help in any way that I can and I hope people understand and can put themselves in those people’s shoes. Just to know what it feels like to have everything taken away from you".
Miley will be donating $500,000 to Hurricane Harvey relief. She also announced that as of August 30, all donations received by her own charity, the Happy Hippie Foundation, will support people affected by the hurricane.
Leo announced that The Leonardo Dicaprio Foundation has pledged $1 million to the United Way Harvey Recovery Fund. United Way Worldwide is the largest privately funded non-profit. Brian Gallagher, president and CEO of the organisation, thanked DiCaprio in a statement. “We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of Leonardo DiCaprio and his foundation,” he said. "Responding to Hurricane Harvey requires the best of all of us — and that’s what this gift represents."
Hart announced that he was creating "Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge" on Instagram and called on many of his celebrity friends to donate to relief efforts. He tagged Dwayne Johnson, Beyoncé, Chris Rock, Jay Z, Dave Chappelle, and Justin Timberlake in the post before announcing that he'd be donating $50,000 personally. He has also created a fundraising page online. In its first day alone, the CrowdRise page received more than $770,000 from more than 3,000 people.
The actress, who owns a home in Austin, has pledged $1 million for the American Red Cross. In a statement she said, "I'm just grateful I can do it. We have to take care of one another."
Kris Jenner announced on her Instagram that the Kardashian-Jenner family will donate $500,000 after being nominated in Kevin Hart's Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge. Kris wrote: "We have been watching the heartbreaking footage of the catastrophic flooding in Houston and our hearts go out to the people of Texas... We must all stand together in times of need!"
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has donated $25,000 to the cause. He wrote on Instagram, “Stay strong Houston and hold onto faith. Me and my family know what you’re going [through]. We survived the eye of [Hurricane] Andrew and became stronger — so will you".
Minaj announced on Instagram that she will donate $25,000 to Kevin Hart's CrowdRise page.
DJ Khaled posted an Instagram video with his son and stated that he donated $25,000. He wrote: "HOUSTON TEXAS my prayers are wit you ! I just sent 25k your way to help all the families in need and help the city HOUSTON TEXAS 🙏🏽 @kevinhart4real I accepted your challenge @kevinhart4real bless up ! GOD IS THE GREATEST!!!"
The singer has reportedly donated $100,000 to the cause.
Hip hop veteran T.I. accepted Hart's challenge however he advised against working with the American Red Cross for reasons not yet clear. In a video, he said: "Aye, this for my homeboy Kevin Hart. You know I answer all call outs baby. For the Houston Harvey challenge, I’ll dedicate 25k to it. But you got to find you an organisation to f*ck with besides Red Cross. I ain’t f*cking with no Red Cross. F*ck them and FEMA. But I got 25k for you.”
Jack Antonoff is supporting the LGBTQ community in Texas. He wrote on Twitter that he will match up to $10,000 in donations to the Montrose’s Hurricane Harvey LGBTQ Disaster Relief Fund in Houston.[ id="902387327221108736"]
It's not clear how much Beyoncé is donating to her home city of Houston however she said that she is working in partnership with her local pastor to help those in need. "My heart goes out to my hometown, Houston, and I remain in constant prayer for those affected and for the rescuers who have been so brave and determined to do so much to help," she said in a statement.
"I am working closely with my team at BeyGOOD as well as my pastor (Rudy Rasmus at St. John's in downtown Houston) to implement a plan to help as many as we can," she added.

The couple released an Instagram video relaying how devastated they were after seeing the footage of Hurricane Harvey. They announced that they will be donating $25,000 dollars each.
