We thought Billie Piper couldn’t get anymore epic with the upcoming release of Rare Beasts, her phenomenal directorial debut, but alas, it turns out we were wrong. The powerhouse actress and musician is adding another string to her bow with brand new comedy-drama, I Hate Suzie.

Set for release on Sky Atlantic next year, I Hate Suzie centres around a fading celebrity whose career and marriage is left in jeopardy when a damaging photo is leaked online. The official synopsis describes the series as a "bold, bracing, funny drama about the moment in life when the mask slips, asking if any us can survive being well and truly ‘known.’"

Billie, who is co-creating the series, is joined by her Secret Diary of a Call Girl co-star and fellow scriptwriter Lucy Prebble. The actress will appearing on screen alongside The Crown’s Daniel Ings, Innocent’s Leila Farzad and Nathaniel Martello-White.

“A strong, dark, fun tale like I Hate Suzie needs actors with nerve as well as talent. We’re thrilled to be working with such a brilliant ensemble. We hope you enjoy!” said Billie and Lucy in their official casting announcement.

While further details are yet to be released, photos have been released of the eight-part series filming in London. The series is expected to be released in 2020.

The news of Billie’s latest project comes shortly after the release of her directorial debut, Rare Beasts. The ‘anti rom-com’ tells the story of a young, single mother struggling to live up to her own and society’s expectations.

“I started writing Rare Beasts at a time when I felt the world was telling us [women] we could have it all,” she said of the film’s message. “It is a wonderful idea. But quite often the reality is that it is incredibly hard and stressful.”

From one hit to the next, Billie Piper is a force to be reckoned with. Cue major girl crush.

I Hate Suzy will air in 2020 on Sky Atlantic.
