Novus Medical Cool Laser Treatment
It’s the non-invasive treatment the Kardashians apparently swear by, and now it has landed in the UK. From fine-lines and pigmentation to age spots and acne, The Novus Medical Cool Laser Treatment promises to soothe a number of skin concerns whether it be fine lines or scars. It can even tighten skin around the jawline or plump lips without the use of fillers - genius! To top it off, the treatment has a much quicker cooling off time in comparison to other skin lasers that leave you red, peeling and hiding indoors for days.

How it Works
The pulse from the Cool Laser heats the water in the skin and vaporises it. The duration of the pulse can be adjusted for different types of treatments making it versatile whatever your skin concern.
It does not burn the skin as much as other CO2 lasers but after a few days, there may be peeling of the superficial layers if it has been used for skin rejuvenation. The heat also triggers a healing response in the deeper layer of the skin that boosts collagen growth to give the skin a smoother appearance over a longer period of time.
Depending on the area being treated, you might need 1-5 treatments. For skin rejuvenation, you require 1-3x treatments with 4-6x weeks apart.

As an avid sun seeker in permanent search of a tan, I’m starting to notice the damage I have caused my skin over the years.
As I creep closer to 30, I am more conscious of a healthy skin care routine to future proof my skin as much as possible. If this treatment is one way to smooth wrinkles and pigmentation without turning to cosmetic treatments like botox I am sold.
Skin bleaching is still a huge issue - here's why
I met with Dr Vincent Wong at his clinic just off Harley Street in London where I was advised to stay out of the sun for 7-10 days prior to my appointment. Before the treatment began, I had an assessment which included questions about my current skincare regime and lifestyle. Dr Wong was not very impressed by my love of the sun and dare I say it, sun beds. He pointed out my pigmentation spots which I hadn’t even realised I had. Let’s just say, it was the shock that I needed.
He first removed my makeup off with an alcohol-based cleanser to ensure there was nothing left on my skin. He talked me through how the treatment works and what the cool laser would actually feel like which instantly put me at ease. He turned the cool laser machine on and got to work. The cool laser pulses over your skin and it clicks as the laser fires. Depending on the severity one or two passes of laser may be needed. The sensation feels like a very subtle sting or mild sunburn but but it only lasted a couple of minutes - I would say I was in and out of the clinic in 20 minutes.
After the laser, a cooling face mask was placed on my face for 10 minutes which was bliss to soothe the sunburn sensation. Following this, Dr Wong applied a moisturising oil to my face and advised me not to wear make up and avoid working out for 24 hours.
My face was a little red, however it was not as you might imagine considering I had just had a laser treatment. I was nervous I would be walking out bright red but I was straight back to work with no embarrassment and within no more than 4 hours, the redness had calmed down. I was out for dinner that night with zero fears that my face looked like a tomato.
The following morning, I noticed my skin had a few subtle red marks. You wouldn't be able to see these unless I pointed them out to you but this was all part of the skin rejuvenation process. These were gone within a week and my skin was left feeling really clear and glowy.
Here's how to get glowing skin without putting a single thing on your face
The treatment was brilliant! I was in and out of the clinic within 20 minutes, which is far quicker than other invasive laser treatments I’ve heard horror stories about. My skin felt glowy and rejuvenated after just one treatment and it gave me a new-found confidence to head out without makeup. It’s a yes from me.
